Throughout the current situation that we are going through (covid19),
'Magic in the grass' will continue to bring you beautiful hand-crafted Silver jewellery, however we have had to slim down our product range for now. Only items that I already carry the stock metal for, or items that do not require hallmarking are available at this time.
Where possible we will be using the post box near our home instead of the post office, so we will not be offering a signed-for delivery service until further notice.
Instead we are offering free shipping for all!
If you would like me to send some handmade jewellery direct to a loved one, I'm here. After placing your order please email me with the alternative delivery address. If you'd like me to enclose a card with a message from you, it would be my pleasure, just ask!
Thank you friends x

Here at 'Magic in the grass' we first opened our gates in 2009, and the company has grown organically through the years with support from our loyal customers.
My name is Nikki Smith, and I love to make jewellery....
I first began this journey as a hobby, but soon I realised that I had the passion and skills to take it further. I have always loved to make things, and feel SO lucky to be crafting as my full time career, enabling me to do the job that I love, working from home, giving me more time to be around my fab family!
Please feel free to contact me regarding custom designs if there is something that you have in mind that you don't see in my shop. I love a challenge :)
Happy days x

The official date for getting any orders in for Mother's Day delivery has now passed, but if you'd still like to get something special for your Mum (or indeed your children's Mum!) please get in touch prior to ordering, and I'll let you know if I can fit you in!
All our jewellery is handmade in the Yorkshire Dales. Many pieces can be personalised with your own special words...perhaps your children names or initials?
All Sterling Silver, all made with love.

I Love to make these cuffs SO MUCH...
Each little leaf and flower is stamped individually to grow a different Magic Garden every time. No two gardens will ever look the same!
I recently added magic mushrooms to the mix too x

If you've bought our jewellery before you'll know how cool the packaging is, and we're so please to tell you that it is all now 100% recyclable!
Your handmade jewellery arrives to you in a sweet grass lined gift box all ready for giving...or keeping in your special place. I've heard that these are sometimes passed on to children to make fairy gardens too, which I think is an awesome idea :)
The grass we use is made from recycled plastic bottles, and it is 100% recyclable.
All materials used in the making of our signature gift box come from an FSC® forest, where no more wood is cut down than the forest can reproduce. This means better protection of the animal and plant life, and all foresters have proper training, safety equipment and a decent wage.
We send out your package in a heavy duty Kraft envelope, manufactured from 100% paper and these are also, of course - 100% recyclable!
Happy days x

Over on Instagram I'm taking part in #marchmeetthemaker giving you the option to learn more about me and the Magic...should you wish to...
Day 1 - “Story”.
The very beginning of Magic in the grass took place at The Bowery in North Leeds. I was working an office job in the city centre at the time, which definitely did not suit me, but was my way of not being dragged back into working in kitchens after me and my partner (now husband) returned from our travels!
I started with a short evening course in beadwork, which gave me the taste for jewellery making. The next course was in Silversmithing which gave the passion!
From there I have mostly self taught...and I have quite a collection of books that fed this need to create that I have literally always had inside me, what can I say? I just like making stuff 🤗
When I became pregnant I took full advantage of the time off work and was in the (freezing) outhouse/my excuse of a studio any chance I got.
My first sales came through friends and family, then Etsy.com (where I still sell now).
Opening this site was a highlight, and I also stock in 2 local shops - Craft Hutch (Grassington) and Gingerbugs & Co (Ingleton) which is awesome as I get my jewellery on display alongside other like-minded crafty types.
I now have a ‘proper’ studio with heating and everything x
I never did return to that job in the city

Lots of hammering was needed today, so when we got a break of sunshine there was only one thing for it...I donned my filthiest shoes and got out there!
